A way of Hope for Africa

4 July 2005, Argentina Theatre of Rome- An evening event in honor of St Josemaría Escrivá was held on the 30th anniversary of his death. A performance entitled “The Way” was presented by actor Franceso Carneluttie. During the event, Rosella Villa reported on the results of Harambee 2002, describing some of the 18 projects concluded so far. There was also a presentation about another 6 new projects just beginning in five African countries.

Some key quotes from St Josemaría Escrivá formed the background music for the evening event: “A person or a society that does not react in the face of tribulation or injustice and makes no effort to alleviative them, is not a person nor a society worthy of the love of the Heart of Christ. Christians (while retaining always the widest freedom to study and engage in different practical solutions and enjoying moreover a logical pluralism) need to share a common desire to serve mankind. otherwise, Christianity could not be the Word of the life of Jesus. Rather it would be a travesty, in the eyes of both God and men”.

The theatrical performance was an ideal conversation between actor, bread, an itinerant and a huge crucifix. The text was taken from St Josemaría’s book, the Way. An audience made up of 450 people found it very moving and gave it thunderous applause at the end.
