Harambee2002 Award presented before more than 300 African film and television producers.
December 1 and 2, 2005, a Symposium titled “10 years of African Cinema” was held in Lagos, with the cooperation of InterMedia.
The event was organized by the Nigerian television company CFC (Communication for Change) and the Pan-African University, Nigeria, with the support of Africa Network (a group of independent film producers), TV for the Environment (TVE), BBC Trust and the Ford Foundation. The UN (Tanzania) and the Southern African Conference on Development also took part in the Symposium.
The Symposium offered a succession of opportunities to analyse the future of the African film industry and the role of women in African film. The Symposium closed with the presentation of the II International Harambee2002 Award for television reporting on Africa.
