On saturday the 26Th of April 2008, "the 12th 21st Century Communications day" took place in Granada, organized by the Mayor Albayzin college under the title” guidelines to overcome the stereotypes of information on the subject of Immigration”.

There were present “ Speakers” of High renown and experience like the English writer Austen Ivereigh and the Peruvian journalist Martin Mucha co-ordinator of the daily magazine for El Mundo. The main event of the day was the presentation of the Harambee Special Award to Ricard Kapuscinski, who disappeared one year ago and so it was presented to his daughter Rene.

Two Guinean students and two children from Togo offered a bouquet of flowers and a painting to the wife of the Polish writer who could not speak for health reasons

.La Tela, with an African inspiration is a work by the Spanish Painter Hortensia Nunez Ladeveze.Juan Jimenez from la Pena ,harambee Spain spoke to explain the reasons behind the awarding of the Prize to the Polish Journalist of International Fame who among numerous acknowledgements has also received the Prince of Asturias Award in 2003 and was a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006.To give the Prize was Manuel Sanchez Hurtado from Harambee International who underlined how Kapuscinski ,free from Prejudice and stereotypes managed to capture better than so many other writers with profound understanding ,accuracy and Psychological and moral penetration ,the reality of the African soul.”

For all of us who work in Harambee ,he said,it is much more than a moment of pride,it is a pleasure to give this Special award,it is in some way a question of Justice because Kapuscinski,with his ever-present notebook,exceptional talent ,profound moral sense and his professional honesty and with a vision free of whatever type of prejudice managed to change ,by himself, the prospects of millions of women and men of our time”.
