Rome, Harambee event in support of Africa.
Gianni Alemanno, Mayor of Rome: Development is more than just financial assistance.

“Our approach to the problems of poverty and development must change”stressed Gianni Alemanno, Mayor of Rome, in the greeting that he addressed to friends of Harambee Africa International, at the event in favor of the 5 project for Africa that the Association has presented at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome.
"We must recognize that development is more than just financial help, it means encouraging the development of knowledge, human resources, capacity to integrate, to give shape to local interests, organizations, social groups and, on the other hand, -said the Mayor-in terms of outside representation, the ability to develop more or less unified in relation to the market, the state, other cities and other levels of government." And dwelling on education projects initiated by Harambee, he said: "We have a duty to pay attention to the serious social problems that afflict Africa, but it is right and necessary that the populations living there are directly involved in the solutions to the problems. There are many Africans working hard to put their skills to the service of the community, we must help them and make sure that the rest of the world can appreciate their skills. "
Amongst the participants: Renato Ascoli, Business Director of Lottomatica, the consul at the Cameroon Ms Helena Tchuente Kom and President of Harambee -Giovanni Mottini. Several representatives of cultural, social and business life of Rome also took part at the event as the director Giulio Base, Senator Raffaele Calabrò and Dr. Joaquín Navarro Valls.
