Marcelle Yao, chemist and pharmacist and lecturer at the FHB University in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) is among the latest recipients of the ‘Guadalupe’ scholarship programme supported by Harambee. Yao recently arrived in Spain to join ISFOC’s research team in Puertollano to study desalination and water purification techniques and the use of photovoltaic solar energy. The Guadalupe project aims to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research with a view to strengthening research centres in Africa.
