The seventh edition of the biennial contest dedicated to professional documentary filmmakers and video clips by students is already under way.
Hoping to promote a more accurate image of Africa, Harambee Africa International ONLUS has launched the VII International “Communicating Africa” Prize for professional reports and/or documentaries broadcast on television or web-based portals, as well as video clips made by students under 25 years old.
This international audiovisual contest aims to contribute to a more realistic view of Africa, one that reflects the existing conflicts but also shows the reasons for hope; the richness and diversity of its peoples and cultures, the unwavering commitment to development, and at the same time the needs, which are still very real. In short, to promote awareness of a continent that is a treasure for the whole world.
This award is for those who know how to highlight the greatness of the little stories of this continent and its people: stories of integration, of peaceful coexistence, and of dialogue. The goal is not to give a naive or simplistic view of Africa, but rather to show that, alongside wars and shortages, one also finds hope and the honest work of many individuals and organizations.
The deadline to participate is September 30, 2017.
Registration can be done online at http://premio.harambee-africa.org/en.
The prize for the winner of the “Documentaries and Reports” category is €5,000. For video clips made by students, the total prize is €1,500.
