Home > News > Burundi Project: 5,400 euro contribution sent to support Batwa women

Thanks to Spain H. Committee a contribution of 5,400 euros has just been sent for the socio-economic promotion of 100 Batwa women in particularly poor living conditions.
In Burundi, the Batwa community represents 1% of the population and is recognised by the National Constitution as the third ethnic group alongside Hutu and Tutsi. It is a minority that has always been discriminated against and does not enjoy any rights, even elementary rights. The majority are illiterate and live in very precarious housing structures. With the decline of traditional sources of income (hunting, ironwork and ceramics), this population survives mostly by begging.
The H. project in 2018 wishes to help the population of the municipality Mutimbuzi, contributing to the schooling of children and the socio-economic promotion of women.
