Harambee Africa International is launching the 9th International Prize, “Communicating Africa” to help create a more accurate image of Africa, one that reflects the existing conflicts but also shows the reasons for hope; the richness and diversity of its peoples and cultures, the unwavering commitment to development, and at the same time the needs, which are still very real. In short, to promote awareness of a continent that is a treasure for the whole world.

This edition of the Award is exceptionally dedicated to a specific theme: resilience in times of crisis, stories of courage in times of pandemic.

Although the numbers of the new Coronavirus infection are still lenient in Sub-Saharan Africa, the economic and social consequences of measures to stop the spread of the Virus are dramatic, especially for the most vulnerable. But it is precisely in a time of increased vulnerability that resilience processes are set in motion to resist and react to the crisis, turning it, if possible, into an opportunity for growth.

The Award therefore wishes to help shed light on the greatness of small stories of resistance, solidarity and commitment for the good of the communities.

For this edition the Prize is addressed to:
video reportages and video documentaries made from March 2020 onwards that address ethnic, social, economic, health, cultural issues related to the Covid-19 health emergency produced since March 2020.

Submission Deadline: September 30, 2021.
