On the occasion of the beatification of the scientist Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri, which took place on May 18, 2019, in Madrid, Harambee launched a decade-long project of scholarships for young African female scientists.

Thanks to an international fundraising campaign, ten annual scholarships will be offered for a total period of ten years.

This program aims to promote leadership and visibility for African women in scientific and technological research. It also aims to contribute to fostering and encouraging research in their countries, creating new teams and research fields capable of addressing the continent’s major challenges. These challenges include, but are not limited to, the following areas: health sciences, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) such as water, energy, climate change, waste management, sustainable agriculture, or food security.

Each selected scholar will have the opportunity for overseas training, with a stay (from 1 to 3 months) in the best international research centers with which Harambee will establish partnerships.
