Njoki has got 4 children, she is a successful entrepreneur. Thanks to your support, more women will be professionally trained.

Njoki is a mother of 4 children. Her husband abandoned them. Before participating in the business training, conducted by Kianda Foundation, she used to sell boiled maize and porridge to workers at construction sites, but the income was not enough to cover their basic needs. While selling the foodstuff to the construction workers she wondered, “What if I also start delivering construction materials?” She went to buy the material from a man who knew her from the food business and he agreed to give her the construction materials she requested on credit. In her first sale she realized she had earned more than in 2 weeks producing the food, and from then on she did not look back.

She discovered the need of keeping accounts, she started saving and she understood the concept of good marketing. Soon she started to offer her services of construction materials not only in her area but to many others. She had a business card printed and left it with many people.

She realized when delivering the materials to the site, that people were buying land and that the land was appreciating very fast. Then is when she thought of becoming a land broker. It was not an easy business, but with the first piece she sold she got 2.500 Euros as commission, and with that she bought a small piece of land and built an iron sheet house for the family. She is educating her children in good schools as she wants them to get the education she did not receive.

She now gives part of her time and services as a home based care volunteer for HIV/AIDS patients. She has helped them to save and they can all borrow small amounts and start their own businesses.
