Home > Progetti > Nigeria. Scholarship Program for Vocational Ttraining of Women, Ibadan, Enugu and Lagos

Promoters
-Educational Cooperation Society – Women’s Board.
-The Nigerian Association for Women’s Advancement (NAWA)

Context
Despite the positive pace of economic growth, in Nigeria the problem of gender equality, especially in the most fragile contexts, is very serious; due to discrimination, girls do not continue their studies and have little chance to receive adequate training in order to access the labor market, with economic and social consequences that exacerbate the cycle of poverty.

Activities
The scholarship program is aimed at the most vulnerable female students of 3 vocational schools: Lantana College of Hospitality (Enugu city), Orisun College of Hospitality (Ibadan) and The Lagoon Institute of Hospitality Studies (LIHS) based in Lagos. The three schools offer the opportunity to attend a professional training course in the hospitality sector, which in the country has a very high growth rate. The girls, properly trained, easily find employment, securing a level of income that can break the vicious cycle of poverty and transform their lives and those of their families.

Beneficiaries
3 particularly vulnerable students (one per school) who will be able to attend the entire cycle of study.
