Description
Farmers, who represent about 70% of the working population of the Democratic Republic of Congo, live and work in precarious conditions. In Kinshasa, the overwhelming majority is concentrated on the periphery and the yield of their activity remains low for reasons related to poor sandy-clayey soils, the use of degenerated seeds, torrential rains that destroy crops, the use of archaic and inefficient farming methods or techniques, the lack of a calendar of activities to ensure the continuity of production and fluctuations in the price of agricultural products on the market.

CEPROSEM is a non-governmental non-profit organisation set up in 2006, based in Kinshasa, with the aim of improving the technical skills of farmers, providing them with access to drinking water and helping them to market their agricultural products.

Activities
The project aims to improve the agricultural production of 200 women and 100 men farmers of 6 local associations in the outskirts of Kinshasa, through the acquisition of seeds, agricultural equipment, fertilizers and plant protection products and the increase of economic efficiency through the professionalization of farmers in the marketing and installation of 2 points of sale of agricultural products.

Target group: 200 women and 100 men farmers from 6 local associations on the outskirts of Kinshasa.

Harambee contribution: 30.000 Euro
