In Uganda, the pandemic has exacerbated the employment crisis, negatively affecting the vocational education and training sector. The “Soft Skills for Jobs through Sport” project aims to fill this gap by integrating soft skills through sport in 15 vocational institutions. This innovative approach aims to improve the employability of young people by providing them with key skills required in the modern labor market.

Beneficiaries

1,500 young people from 15 selected training centers in and around Kampala.

Major Activities

  • Identification and selection of 15 professional institutes for involvement in the project.
  • Sports and fitness sessions that will teach teamwork, leadership, respect, responsibility, proactivity and effective communication.
  • Lessons from financial experts and teachers on how to start and run businesses, with a focus on promotion, accounting, savings and reinvestment.
  • Meetings with successful young entrepreneurs to share experiences and professional advice, encouraging the building of networks and partnerships.
